We are no good at sending the physical mail, so we hope you will enjoy receiving one (at all!) digitally! :) Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
So the snowman (see earlier pictures) started to tip sideways, and by the middle of today it was seeming to defy gravity. Looks like a Calvin creation.
ASUS has a new "NetBook", the N10J. If that's your thing, great... don't let me dissuade you. But I don't consider the quest to play games to be part of what a "NetBook" should be.
It's just too much. See, for $699 you can build at least a decent gaming PC, or a "normal-people" notebook. The whole idea (to me) of a NetBook is that you're not trying to replace a desktop.
Me? I'd be doing mail, news (RSS) and web stuff. Maybe updating some Web sites that I manage, doing some Facebook and blog posting, and maybe -- maybe -- trying to do some .NET programming in Mono "for fun." (Yes, I do consider it fun if I have an interesting project.)
None of that requires a crazy graphics card or high-end processor. Heck, that's what I do on my desktop Linux system, only there I've got all of the graphic goo-gaws turned on (Compiz Fusion) and I expect to be able to do anything there. I've got VMware running and some other things, too.
Like I said, if people are interested, great. I just hope the whole NetBook idea doesn't get co-opted by the idea that a NetBook has to do everything your main computer can do.
Keep 'em low-cost, that's what I'd like to see.
Don't tell Tali, but she's taking a few REALLY good pictures these days. I really like this one, and if you click through to her Flickr site, look for the Gecko on the tree. I think her new camera is doing her well.
I know we've been lax on getting pictures uploaded. Comes from getting no sleep, and having one kid or the other climbing on me (sometimes literally in Kai's case) during the awake (and at home) times. I'll try to catch up on the weekend.
But for now, I submit that these are two very cute (handsome?) boys.
I may be biased.
If you like humor, and I know you do, you should do yourself a favor and check out "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog". It's a project from Joss Whedon and others. You may know him from such things as: he's the guy behind "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly/Serenity" (among other things).
"The story of a low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he’s too shy to talk to."
You may have thought that we lost our camera or something, but no, I've just fallen far behind. Here's a picture dump from the last few months, with a few more to follow. Enjoy!
